This is a visual tour of the music of Ireland. Everywhere we we went the presence of music was evident. What a beautiful, magical, musical place!

Sounds of Ireland!

My husband and I are leaving for an 8 day trip to Ireland tomorrow. I hope to bring back suggestions for local music venues, Irish bands and whatnot.

Madison World Music Festival

Madison, WI 2010. Probably not the first place you think of if you're thinking World anything. But for the 3 days beginning this Thursday, Madison will be hosting artists from around the world, including musicians from Mexico, Romania, Kenya, Mali Kyrgyzstan, Corsica and more!

Thursday 9/23 and Friday 9/24 performances are scheduled at the UW Memorial Union Terrace. Saturday, 9/25 the venue moves to the Willy Street Fair.

What kind of music do world musicians play, you ask? Anything from high energy pop music, to quieter, more traditional world music, modern and folky traidional music.
